The Walking Club meets on the morning of the third Tuesday of each month.

August 18th 2015

Rose and her husband Ben (who farms nearby) led us on a lovely circular walk around Kinlet.  We enjoyed lovely views in all directions, from Wenlock Edge to Bredon Hill and ended up with a pub lunch at The Eagle and Serpent.

July 21st 2015

Five members took part in a local walk beginning at Witley Court and exploring Hillhampton and Structons Heath before returning to The Witley Tearooms for a leisurely lunch in the garden. It was a lovely dry, warm summer's day and the fields were abundant with their crops ready for harvest. Our route included lanes, tracks, paths across fields and through woodland and was pleasantly flat. Many thanks to Jen Guest for leading the walk.

14 members from Bentley Pauncefoot, Fernhill Heath, Naunton Beauchamp and Web Heath joined Abberley WI Walking Group on a beautiful sunny day to enjoy the long views and scenery surrounding the Abberley Circular Walk. The locals could point out views of interest and some of the history and it was great fun to exchange news and ideas whilst everyone walked at a comfortable pace. After 3 hours, the majority of us were grateful to relax in the shade of the decking outside our local pub, the Manor Arms, devouring a well earned lunch.

Members walked through Shrawley Woods to enjoy the bluebell display.

 April 21st 2015

5 walkers enjoyed a beautiful, sunny Spring morning on a 5 mile circular walk from Mamble. We went as far as Bayton where we investigated the village church and took in wide open views towards Cleobury Mortimer.  On the way we saw lovely hedgerows of blackthorn and damson blossom and sheep peacefully grazing, walked through a head-high, vivid yellow field of oilseed rape and passed through the grounds of the Shakenhurst Estate admiring the drifts of wood anemones in the woodland. Later we came across a new dairy farm. The owner had installed a robotic milking parlour and the cows stayed in sheds all year round, with all their diet and yield highly computerised. We returned to Mamble for a definitely not computerised delicious lunch at 'The Sun and Slipper'.

Seven walkers and two dogs met up at the village hall and then drove to Ombersley. Tracy Ballard led the walk which took us through woodland, pasture, and riverside meadows with a walk alongside the River Severn. We then went under Holt Fleet Bridge and passed the lock and weir before leaving the river behind to head back towards Ombersley passing acres of freshly sprouting rhubarb. It was a pity the weather was grey and misty as at the highest point on the walk you can apparently have a splendid view of the Malverns and Abberley Hill and Clocktower, oh well next time maybe. After a steady walk that was just under 6 miles in distance it was time to go into The Kings Arms in Ombersley for a welcome drink and lunch.

February 17th 2015 - 7 members and 2 dogs enjoyed another cold but beautifully sunny day on a walk around Cleobury Mortimer, ending with lunch at The Crown at Hopton Wafers. Look closely - more donkeys, plus snowdrops and muddy boots.

Does my bum look big in this?

January 20th 2015 - For the first monthly walk of 2015 the farmland was sodden so we walked along camp Lane in glorious sunshine, taking in the wonderful views of the Teme Valley. Soup and coffee at The Manor Arms were a welcome end to the morning.
